Nicol Sayre - Folk Dolls
Nicol Sayre has an affinity for the mid-1800s, a period well reflected in her wonderful work. Her dolls and holiday décor abound with vintage detailing and are charmingly reminiscent of that bygone era. Her passion for antique dolls, old toys, sewing notions and household implements inspire each creation. She sculpts the heads and hands for her dolls in papier mache which she hand-paints. From 12-30” the dolls are soft bodied, and dressed in antique and vintage-like textiles. Festive holiday creations are often made of cotton batting and adorned with vintage fancies. Darling accessories might include old purses, small leather gloves, calling cards, pictures or handmade paper cornucopias. I am completely smitten with her creations and especially thrilled to host Nicol for a signing of her original work in May 2006. Please see our schedule for details, and email us to be notified of new dolls as they arrive from her California studio.
